Player development comes first
At RVSC United, our U8 - U10 players are expected to bring energy, effort, and a positive attitude every time they step on the field. We prioritize hard work and dedication while creating an environment where players can truly enjoy the game and build confidence. Development comes first by focusing on fundamentals, teamwork, and decision-making - so each player grows at their own pace while contributing to the group. Above all, we want players who are willing to learn, support their teammates, and have fun competing.
Our Focus for Youth Development
Ball Mastery
Ball control, dribbling, first touch, passing and finishing. Young players need thousands of reps to gain confidence.
Decision Making
Small sided games and game film are used to help teach players when to dribble, pass or shoot.
Movement off the Ball
To be a good player you can't stand and watch. Move into space to help your teammates and create passing angles.
1v1 Ability
We want our players to have fun, be creative on the ball and not be afraid to take defenders on.
Confidence & Mentality
Players make wrong decisions, it's how they learn what not to do. Players shouldn't be afraid to make a mistake as long as they learn from it.
Love for the Game
Kids should have fun playing. If they don't love it now they won't put the time and effort into it later on to make it to the next level.

Coach Profile
I’m excited to return to the RVSC family as head coach of River Valley SC United. Having grown up in Parkersburg and played for RVSC Rampage - winning nine state championships and competing in Eastern Regionals six times - I’m grateful for the experiences and friendships the game gave me. My goal now is to pass that passion on, helping the next generation grow as players and individuals.
